- Bunker Hill VillageBunker Hill Village is a wooded residential rea, independent of the surrounding metropolis - a place where families have room to roam but remain close to city life. Once a country community that was considered far from Houston, the land was incorporated in the 1950s. The area's minimum lot size is 20,000 square feet in most areas, and stringent zoning ordinances have helped maintain the area's prominence. Bunker Hill is part of the Spring Branch school system. Many of the area's original flat-roof contemporary homes are still standing among the newer extravagant mansions that now define Bunker Hill Village. The area's large lots, tranquil setting, strict zoning ordinances, and country origins attract newcomers, as well as long-time Houston residents, in search of space and peaceful surroundings.
- Mission StatementThe Mayor, City Council and Staff of Bunker Hill Village are committed to governing with integrity and fiscal responsibility. We are dedicated to creating a sense of community, ensuring the safety and well-being of our citizens, and preserving our unique character and quality of life so that we can pass on a greater and more beautiful city to future generations.
- A Message From Mayor Bill MarshallOur city of 1307 homes was founded in 1954. We are very proud of our quiet, wooded environment, and as a community, we work hard to preserve it for future generations. Our homes are located in a truly unique area, and as Houston continues to grow, the environment in the Memorial Villages will become even more in demand.
Through the years we have adopted ordinances establishing zoning regulations that have very effectively preserved the character have very effectively preserved the characteristics that are so well known as 'the Memorial Villages.' The zoning ordinances are available at City Hall and also on the City of Bunker Hill Village Web Site (www.bunkerhill.net).
The police and fire departments, and the schools are three of our biggest assets. We continue to work to make them among the finest in the country.
The Memorial Villages Police Department serves Bunker Hill, Piney Point and Hunters Creek Villages. The department is nationally accredited and plays a very important role in our communities in addition to their policing responsibilities. They are involved in many community-related projects such as DARE, GREAT, and The Community Network. The Community Network. They also provide a number of services, including House Watch that you will need to become more familiar with. Please feel free to give Gary Brye, Chief of Police, a call or stop in to meet him. The police station is located at 11981 Memorial Drive.
Our Village Fire Department serves six Memorial Villages (Bunker Hill, Hedwig, Hilshire, Hunters Creek, Piney Point and Spring Valley). The department has the most up-to-date equipment available and highly trained personnel to use it. We have an Insurance Service Organization (ISO) rating of '3' of which we are very proud. Make certain that your homeowners insurance carrier is giving you credit for this. Recognition of this rating by your carrier can save money on fire insurance. Cleve Calagna, Fire Chief, will be happy to visit with you and answer any questions you may have. The station is located at 901 Corbindale in Hedwig Village.
The Spring Branch Independent School District is one of the most highly rated districts in the state. Elementary age children attend Frostwood, Bunker Hill or Memorial Drive Elementary. Each of these schools is excellent. The middle schools that serve our village are Memorial Middle School to the west and Spring Branch Middle School on Piney Point Road. Our senior high school is Memorial High School that provides a very competitive environment for those who plan to attend college. Several of these schools have received National Exemplary School recognition.
We are glad you are here and hope that you will work along side us so our village will continue to be the 'gem' that attracted you here. If I can be of any service to you, please contact me by calling City Hall at (713) 467-9762.
Sincerely,
Bill Marshall
Mayor
